There are plenty of anxiety support groups around for anxiety sufferers to join. Why don't you consider joining one? It's more than likely that you will be able to find one near where you live. If not there are plenty of support forums and community sites on the Internet. People who suffer from panic attacks and anxiety will usually find that one of the worst things about their condition is the loneliness that comes with it.

It's a sad fact that many people believe that there is a stigma attached to emotional or mental problems and therefore they shouldn't be discussed. Speaking to other people can be very hard as it is often difficult for others to understand and relate to your experiences. It can be off putting when trying to explain how you feel to other people as there is often a fear that they may judge you negatively for feeling the way you do. Have a look for some anxiety support groups in your area as they would give you a place to go and meet other people who feel like you do and are able to relate to what you have to say. They are extremely beneficial as they can provide you and the other people in the group with much needed support. The other members of the group should be able to share with you what they have done to seek help and what benefit it has had for them. What is working for them may well be able to work for you too. Anxiety is misunderstod and as a result what you think you know may not in fact be true. A support group will help you to seperate the facts from the myths so you don't waste time on things that don't work.

Anxiety support groups help to create an environment where you are on common ground with the other people in the group. Nobody is going to judge negatively. The opposite will be true. They will be grateful to meet somebody like you. You can be of great value to the other members of the support group just as much as they can be a support to yourself.

Doctors certainly aren't a great source of help for anxiety sufferers as they have a conveyor belt of patients to see and there's not much that they can say or do in a 5 minute appointment to support you. They will probably just prescribe you some anti-anxiety medication that don't do anything apart from suppress the symptoms to create only temporary relief. A support group will give you some quality time with other people who can help you and support you on a regular basis.

If you don't feel comfortable speaking with other people in a group then there are many anxiety support groups and forums on the internet that you can join. These will allow you to be honest about your feelings without revealing yourself to other people. The social networking websites such as Facebook have groups for all types of interest. There are many anxiety support groups on there for people with anxiety disorders. You could join one of these and become friends with similar people and chat to them online for help and support.
